Abbey Ridge

What to say about Abbey Ridge. It seems only fair to try to describe the feeling of being at Abbey Ridge. Let’s go there together. The tires crunch off of the pavement onto gravel, and you slow the truck to a meandering stroll as the Road block passes you on your right. You dip into old growth, a blend of firs, oaks and madrone. the dappled light plays off of the ferns and wisps of dust that trail behind you. You break from the tree line, and see the original vines to the left of this small dirt track, and down below, the old house, with tiled roof, and a gently puffing chimney. you pull up to the house, nestled in old Oregon oaks. Your feet touch the gravel and let out a deep breath. The only sound here is the wind in the trees and the jingle of dog tags form Ike, the greatest dog in the world. This is a special place, and unsurprisingly it makes special wine. Bill and Julia Wayne planted the vineyard, starting in 1975. The 22 acres of vines have gone to various wineries over the years (Eyrie, Adelsheim, Ken Wright to name a few) but now go exclusively to the wider Cameron family. We gratefully receive about an acre that is comprised of two thirds an acre of 115 Pinot noir, a third of 108 Chardonnay, and two rows of Pinot meunier.
